Cranberry Rasam

 Hai friends today i am coming with yummy and tasty recipe called "Cranberry Rasam",This is simple yummy and healthy recipe. This is good substitute for tamarind.I really love rasam and sambar. But now i am supposed to take tamarind. But now i am not missing the rasam. Instead of tamarind i am using cranberry it tastes same. This we get for only 2 months. We can buy fresh cranberry and store in the freezer. We can have it whole year. I made jam  and pickle with cranberries.Soon i will come with jam.I already posted pickle in my blog. Ok lets go the reciep





Ingredients:


Cranberries-1 cup(Fresh or frozen)

Garlic-2 gloves

Peppercorns-1/2 tsp

Green chillies 2

jeera-1/2 tsp


Salt to taste

Oil-1 tsp

Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp

Jeera-1/2 tsp

Methi seeds-1/4 th tsp

Jaggery-Little

Curry Leaves few

Turmeric little

Hing little pinch

Coriander seeds Handsfull

Preparations:

Take the garlic ,peppercorns  .jeera and green chillies in the blender and blend to coarse. Keep this mixture aside





Take cranberries in the jar and blend to puree .Transfer to the bowl and add 2 to 3 cups of water and ix it well. Keep this aside







Method:

Place the deep bottomed pan add the oil and heat it.

When it gets heat add the mustard seeds,methi seeds   and fry in low heat till nice aroma comes.

Later add the curry leaves and cranberries and fry it.

Now add the grinded masala and fry it.




Now add the cranberry mix too.


Now add the salt,turmeric,hing,jaggery to it and make it boil for 5 minutes.






Mix it well


When the boiling is done and chopped coriander


Now rasam is ready to servewith hot steamed rice

Star Fruit Rasam

Hai friends today i am coming with "Star Fruit Rasam".This is the yummy rasam.While cooking this rasam the aroma of the rasam makes me hungry .For this rasam i didnt use any tamarind.Those who don"t want tamarind rasam this is great substitute.Ok lets go the recipe


Ingredients:

Star Fruit-3
Garlic-2 cloves
Salt to taste
Chilli powder-1/4th tsp
Rasam Podi-2 tsp
Green chillies-3
Chopped coriander-handsful
Jaggery little
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Jeera-1/2 tsp
Dry red chillies few
Curry leaves few
Hing little pinch
Oil-1 tsp

Preparation:

Clean well with water and cut it intlo slices and remove seeds.Keep it aside.



Method:


Take the star fruit slices in the bowl.Mix it well the star fruit when it releases water.



To this add the chopped coriander,turmeric,chilli powder and rasam powder.Mox it well with hand as shown in the pic.






 To this add 3 cups of water  and keep it aside.

Take the deep bottomed pot add the oil and heat it.

To this add the mustard seeds and make it pop.


To this add the jeera,dry red chilli pieces,slit green chillies,curry leaves ,crushed garlic and hing.
Saute for few seconds.


Now add the star fruit masala water ,salt and make it boil.





When it starts to boil add the jaggery and boil again for 3 more minutes.

Now the rasam is ready to serve.

Serve it hot with steamed rice.

Rasam with Whey(milk curled water)

Hi friends today i am coming with easy simple tasty recipe called Rasam  with milk curdled water.

Whey how we get -How we make paneer we add yogurt or lemon juice to boiling milk.After the milk get curdle we strain it and get the paneer.Most of the people throw the water.But that water is very rich in protein we can use it many ways.

When we add yogurt to milk we get sweet whey which is good.If we add lemon juice or vinegar we get little sour taste.

We can use this whey in many ways.We can use this as broth in the soup
We can knead the chapathi dough with whey instead of water.
We can use this in biryani too.


Ok lets go the recipe:

Ingredients:

Whey(milk curdled water) -2 cups
Chopped tomatoes-1 cup
Rasam Powder-1 tsp
Salt to taste
Green chillies-2
Curry Leaves few
Oil-1 tsp
Mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
Jeera-1/2 tsp
Dry red chillies few
Turmeric-little pinch

Method:

Place the pan and heat it.To this add 1 tsp oil.

 .When oil gets heat add the mustard seeds  and jeera,
 Add the green chillies,dry red chillies,turmeric and curry leaves


 Now add the chopped tomatoes and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
 Now add the rasam powder and cook it for 2 more minutes.

 Now add the whey salt and mix it well.


 Make it boil for 2 minutes.
 Now the rasam is ready.Finally add the chopped coriander.Serve it hot with steamed rice.
