Idly

Hai friends today i am coming with one of South Indians favourite tiffin "Idly".Not only south indians every one love this tiffin. Its very comfort food for all stages people. Most often eaten at breakfast or as a snack, idlis are usually served in pairs with chutney, sambar, or other accompaniments. Mixtures of crushed dry spices such as milagai podi are the preferred condiment for idlis eaten on the go. In addition, idlis have been considered one of the top ten most healthiest foods in the world .

we can take with Chutney,Sambar or idly podi.

With this we can prepare many types of idlies or other tiffins. That i will post soon. Now lets go to the recipe.

Ingredients:
Urad dal(minapappu)-1 cup
Idly ravva-1 1/2 cup
Salt -1/2 tsp
Water to grind theMethod:
First clean the urad dal and ravva and soak for 2 hours separately.
After 2 hours clean the urad dal and grind it by adding very little water. It should be like frothy .The batter should not be too watery it should be little thick.
Now clean the ravva and drain the excess water and mix this ravva to the urad dal batter. To this batter add the salt and mix well.
Keep this batter aside for 5 to 6 hours for fermentation. After 5 hours mix it well and prepare the idly.
Now place the cooker and add 1 cup water and make it boil.
Take the idly stand and clean with water and apply little oil to it.When the water is boiling now take the batter n spoon and pour in the idly stand.Do to every plate and put together in the cooker and cook in steam for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes with the help of the spoon take the idly and serve hot with chutney ,sambar or idly podi. Here u can get the Sambar recipe

  1. Lovely idlis! Definitely a comforting food for anyone! But I never made with idli rava yet. I make with rice n urad dal combo. Can you tell me the difference between the two methods? I would love to try with idli rava but I dont get it here! Any difference in texture of idlis?
