Pulihora(With Tamarind)

Hai friends today i am coming with one of most andhra traditional recipe called Pulihora.Today i am coming with the one among them.Today i am coming with Tamarind Pulihora.Its very tasty.As you know the Navaratri starts everybody are busy in doing prasadams for the pooja.Pulihora is one among them.This pulihora is used in all festivals.Nothing can beat the andhra pulihora.Ok lets go to the reccipe

Ingredients:

Rice -2 cups
Moong dal-1/2 cup
Tamrind-big lemon size
Turmeric-1/4th tsp
Lemon juice-1 tsp
Salt little
Oil-1/2 tsp
Water required to cook the rice(I use basmathi rice)-3 cups

Seasoning:

Sesame oil-3 tsp
Urad dal-1 tsp
Cashew nuts-1/4th cup
Peanuts-1/4th cup
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Jeera-1 tsp
Green chillies-8 to 10
Dry red chillies-1/4th cup
Chopped ginger-1 tsp
Curry leaves-handsful
Fenugreek powder-1/8th tsp
Hing little pinch

Method:

How to cook rice:
---------------------

Take the rice and moong dal in the cooker vessel and clean it well with water.(oops missed the pics)
Now add the required amount of water,Turmeric,little salt,1 tsp lemon juice and 1/2 tsp oil mix it well.
Cook in the rice cooker.
After 20 minutes the rice is done.
Make it cool and keep it aside.


How to make Tamarind Paste:

Take big lemon size tamarind andsoak in the warm water for 5 minutes.
Extract the tamarind juice  from the pulp.
Then take the tamarind juice in the pan cook this for 5 to 10  min or till it become little thick.
Now add the salt and mix well.

Mix this tamarind paste to the rice.The paste should be coated well to the rice.

Now Seasoning:
Place the pan and add the oil.
When it gets heat add the urad dal,cashew nuts,peanuts.
Fry it till the urad dal changes to light brown.
Now add the mustard seeds and make it pop.When it starts to pop add the jeera,dry red chillies,green chillies,finelly chopped ginger,fenugreek powder,curry leaves  and finally hing.
Add the seasoning to the rice and mix well.

Serve this Pulihora with moong dal.
