Pindi Upma(Rice flour upma)

Hai bloggers today i am coming with rice flour upma.My mom used to prepare this tiffin on festival days why because on that we wont eat onions.For this recipe you may or may not add the onions.Its very simple recipe. My husband loves this tiffin very much.


Rice flour- 1 cup
split moong dal-1/2 cup
dry red chillies-4 to 5
curry leaves-few
mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
jeera-1/2 tsp
salt-acc to taste
hing pinch
water-2 cups


Soak the moong dal for 1 hour.Place the pan on heat pour the oil when it heats add the mustard seeds .When it starts splutter add the jeera,chillie,curry leaves and hing.

Clean the moong dal and add to the pan and fry for 2 minutes.

Now add the 2 cups of water and salt to it.Close the lid make it boil.

When it is boiling low the heat and add the flour slowly otherwise it forms lumps.

Immediately mix the flour without any lumps otherwise it sticks to the pan and turn of the heat.

Now the upma is done.For this no need of chutney or curry.If it is spicy this goes nice with yogurt.

Note:For this upma dont add more water it will comes like sticky.
