Ingredients:
Tomatoes-4
split moong dal-4 tsp
garlic cloves-4
peppercorns-6 to 7
tamarind-like goosberry size
jeera-1/2 tsp
turmeric-1/4 tsp
chilli powder-1/2 tsp
mustard seeds-1/2 tsp
curry leaves-5 springs
coriander-5 bunch
oil-2 tsp
salt to taste
hing-pinchMethod:
First clean the moong dal and add more water to make the stock for the rasam.Bring this to boil until the moong dal is cooked.Crush the garlic first.
Now take the mortar in that add the crush the garlic,peppercorns and jeera.
Take the large sauce pan pour the oil add the mustard seeds,jeera,dry chillies and the garlic pepper mix in it and fry for 1 minute. Now add the curry leaves,coriander and also the springs of teh both leaves. Cut the tomatoes into chunks and tamarind add this to the pan.
And also add the moong dal stock ,chilli powder,turmeric and make it boil.
Now cook this until the tomatoes are soft.This should be done for 15 minutes in low heat.After that turn off the heat and strain this in another bowl for the rasam.
Take another pan and pour oil and heat it now add the remaining mustard seeds,jeera,dry chillies,curry leaves ,hing and fry for 1 minute.Now add the stock ,salt,chilli powder to it and make it boil.Make it boil and finally add the chopped coriander to it.Serve hot.
